Rinse and Repeat: Have the same group that caused the Offensive Behaviour Football Act and then had to fight to repeal it learnt nothing?

AngryMob

Have the lessons learned from the creation of the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (ScotlandAct 2012 (OBFA) not been retained? It was just repealed 20 April 2018, this year.

Now the same offended group under Jeanette Findlay want to fire up the offended torches, pick up the pitch forks and storm the castle again to burn the monster. Here’s her tweet appealing for vigilantes:

Jeanette Findlay Appeal for Vigilants

Like the Rangers v Celtic ‘Shame Game’ trigger for the OBFA, last weekend’s spitting assault on a priest by a drunken follower of an Orange Order march through Glasgow is being used as the trigger for offence.

Because of the OBFA we had young men jailed for singing songs ending up with criminal records because the Scottish Parliament gave Police Scotland fuzzy criteria to arrest you for singing, chanting or saying words in person or online which were hypothetically offended another person.

The Scottish Nanny Party went on after the offensive language in the OBFA to punish all drinkers by upping the minimum price of alcohol and now is talking about preventing 2 for 1 fast food offers.

In each case the majority is harmed in trying to control the few.

It is the same lobby group that got the OBFA set-up that are lighting the torches, picking up their pitchforks again to storm the castle and burn the monster. But the monster is the mob. When that gets going it is uncontrollable.

Did any of this mob even think:

‘Wait a minute. I’ve had the strangest feeling of Deja Vu’? Like I’ve been through this experience before’.

Naw lets give the SNP another chance to bring in offensive legislation and clamp down on everyone’s freedoms because it couldn’t possibly affect me.

Perhaps this group are just permanently offended, enjoy creating the opportunity for the SNP to establish more fuzzy legislation that can be applied to wider potential offences so the Police stats look good then spend the next few years trying to repeal legislation when it’s applied to them. Oh the solidarity, fighting the system and sticking it up the man (government). Remember when we got the OBFA repealed after we didn’t look far enough ahead to see the consequences when we wanted it implemented to satisfy our offence?

Now we have the competing petitions, which after Abolish the House of Lords petition got over 170,000 signatures and parliament ‘debated’ the issue for 5 minutes and promptly binned it.

As it says on the bottle. Rinse and repeat. Idea, why not leave it to the Police with our existing laws to investigate and find the offender?

Meanwhile the top 10 most deprived areas in the UK are in Glasgow. This is after almost 40 years of Labour councils with their noses at trough. Now that’s something to get offend about. That’s too boring to light torches and get the pitchforks sharpened.

But as long as we have the SNP to give us Bread and Circuses to keep the mob happy. However the bread will be wholemeal and circuses are banned.
